World Hindi Day celebrations in Tehran
The Embassy of India, Tehran organized a cultural event to celebrate the World Hindi Day on January 10, 2011 at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Tehran. The event was attended by over three hundred participants including Ambassadors, diplomats, members of the Indian community in Tehran, teachers and students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya.
After inaugurating the event by lighting the traditional lamp the Ambassador of India H.E. Mr. Sanjay Singh read out the message of the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, issued on the occasion of World Hindi Day.
A paper on the role of Hindi today was presented on the occasion. A series of cultural performances including recitation of poems by renowned Hindi poets, traditional Indian dances and musical programmes were also organised.
Hindi is one of the most widely-spoken languages in the world and World Hindi Day is celebrated annually across the world on January 10.
